I love love love shooting with friends.
When you work with someone you know, especially someone you call a friend, you don't have the slightly awkward getting-to-know-you jitters. It's a seamless blend right into the good stuff, knockout photos right off the bat.
It's why the connection with my couples is so important to me; we may not know each other long, but if that connection is there, we can get right into some excellent photos that we all get super psyched about.
I met Johanna when I held my very last 9-5 day job down here in Pensacola, and with her being a photographer as well with an excellent taste of music and just the sweetest disposition, it was basically insta-friends. In short: this lady rocks.
I had the pleasure of watching her and Chuck's relationship unfold: her eager anticipation of their first date, hearing the adorably sweet things he would do for her, chatting with Chuck when he'd drop by the office to bring Johanna lunch, and finally, a text of a smiling Johanna with the most gorgeous ring on her finger, asking me to take their photos for the big announcement.
Of course I accepted.
These two are fun, adventurous, and just plain excellent in front of the camera. Combine that with the gorgeous backdrop of the Blackwater River State Park, and it made for one incredible engagement session.
